Team Formation

It’s more fun in teams—just make sure they’re evenly matched!

turns icon

Which team goes first?

In each round the teams will alternate turns guessing one player from each team at a time. The team with the youngest player goes first.

Order within the team

We also recommend establishing the order in which players from the same team will participate during a round.

“Guess the Flavor!” rules: playing a game

Blindfold icon.

Blindfold

The player whose turn it is sits in a chair. The opposing team puts the blindfold on him and makes sure he sees nothing.

work icon

Find and offer food or beverage

A player from the other team quietly fetches the chosen food or drink and hands it to the blindfolded player—no peeking!

It’s time for the tasting

The blindfolded player tastes it… savors it… and…

Question icon

What is it?

It’s time to show that you have a good sense of taste!

If you guess what you are eating or drinking, a point is added to your team’s score.

turns icon

Next turns

Now it is the turn of a player from the other team. Teams will alternate until a round is completed.

icon rounds

Next rounds

The game continues if it has been agreed to play several rounds.

icon rules

Rule 1 – No cheating!

The player whose turn it is may not use any sense other than the sense of taste.

Your teammates cannot do or say anything to help you. In case of doing so, the turn will be lost without scoring any points.

icon rules

Rule 2 – Not everything is fair game

Only edible things!

Keep it tasty—gross stuff might kill the vibe! 🤢

icon rules

Rule 3 – Repeat

You may agree that food or drink may be repeated, either by the same team or by the opposing team.

End of the game. Who wins?

icon game over

Game over

The game ends when the rounds agreed upon before the start of the game have been completed.

icon winner

And the winner is…

The team that has guessed the most food or drinks is the winner.

Tips for playing “Guess what it is by its flavor”.

icon tip

About the time of the tasting

If it’s a drink, help guide the player’s hand to the glass and let them take a sip themselves.

If it is a food, depending on what it is, a spoon can be used and we can let the blindfolded player bring the spoon to his mouth. Decide what is best in each case!

smell icon

Shall we cover the nose?

If the smell of the food or beverage is revealing, it will be convenient to hold your nose at the time of tasting. When the food or drink is already in the mouth, we release the nose! Don’t pinch too hard—we still need to breathe!

icon tip

Headphones with music

It is possible for the blindfolded player to suspect what food the opposing team has been looking for: by the noise, the time it takes, the comments or the laughter of the players.

In that case you can put some headphones with music while he goes to look for the object and when he already has it in front of him you can take them off.

icon rounds

Number of rounds

For 2 players (1 vs. 1) = 6 rounds (12 tastings in total)

For 6 players (two teams of 3 players) = 3 rounds (18 tastings in total)

For large groups, a single round is sufficient, i.e. only one tasting per player.

Just an idea—you get to decide!

icon tip

For very large groups

If there are many of you, the game can be quite long even if you play only one round. To speed it up, you can take turns in parallel: two players at a time, one per team.
