How to play “Big Pig”
Set up

Number of players
PIG is a game for 2 to 6 players from 5 years old.

What you need
A normal 6-sided die numbered from 1 to 6, and something to control the score.

Rounds and turns
Players take turns in clockwise order, with each round giving everyone a go. In each round there will be a turn for each player.

Who’s first?
All players roll the die once. The player with the highest roll goes first. In case of a tie, roll again!
Goal of the game

Objective
The goal of PIG is to be the first player to reach 100 points.
PIG rules: development of a game

First turn
The player whose turn it is rolls the die repeatedly and adds up the points obtained in each roll until one of these two things happens:

The player stops rolling and banks the points earned in that turn.

If you roll a 1, you lose everything you have added that turn, i.e., you add nothing to your overall score that turn.

Next turns and rounds
The next player proceeds in the same way, and so on.

Update the score
It is important to update the scoreboard as the game progresses.
Game over – who takes the crown??

Game over
The game continues until, in some round, one of the players reaches 100 points, although that still does not make him the winner because all players must exercise their turn within that last round.

And the winner is…
The player with the most points at the end of the last round wins.
For example, if there are 4 players and this happens:
- Player 1: has 72 points after his turn
- Player 2: has 102 points after his turn, this will be the last round! At the moment he is the winner.
- Player 3: has 98 points after his turn. At the moment player 2 is still the winner.
- Player 4: obtains 104 points after his turn…
Player 4 wins!

Games similar to PIG
There is a variant of PIG with two dice and another called BIG PIG.
Although our favorite is PASS THE PIGS in which the dice are not dice but…. two little pigs!

Why is it called PIG?
That’s a question almost everyone asks after discovering this game – why is it called PIG? What does it have to do with pigs?
Here’s why: in English, ‘to pig out’ means eating too much or being greedy.. So the name “Pig” in this context is a metaphor for the greed of the player, who decides to keep rolling the die to gain more points, at the risk of losing everything accumulated if he rolls a 1.
